Be warned these animals are very low on health so use traq darts not arrows. Also try to try to drag them out of the swamp because it's so hard to protect them. Best recommendation is that you bring at least 2000 narcos and you knock it out while having an ally tribe guard you so they don't do damage to your tame. Beware these need to have all eyes on them if you forget or have a moment of hesitation they will wake up and you will waste your expensive quetz kibble. Lower levels are better to tame for eggs cost less kibble but, higher levels are sometimes needed but will cost you dearly if you forget them. Good luck guys and watch your backs in the swamp.
Do not pause between shots instead shoot the required amount of arrows/darts and wait for it to drop. Make sure you have plenty of narcotics as the torpor on these creatures will drop in the blink of an eye. Can be tamed solo but only with kibble due to the torpor time and can also be carried by a Quetzal if you prefer a taming pen.
Torpor runs out in a minute. Try to wait until just before it wakes up to use all the narcotics needed to get it back to fill torpor. You can the. Relax until the torpor goes back to full. Then it quickly depletes again. Repeat. Starve before you use kibble as its expensive kibble...
These creatures needs alot of narcotics. When knocked out, wait for the torpor to drop. Then force feed narc (1 narc = 40 torpor). The torpor meter will slowly rise and give you time to do other things.
Also remember they need natural water in order to lay eggs. They cannot drown after a patch i belive
Dont get stressed over its short wake up time, figure out how many narcotics it will take to fill its torpor from as close to 0 as possible, its about 1 stack for every 4000 torpor points. Place this in the inventory and allow your dimetridon to get as close to waking up as possible and then feed him all the narcotics at once. It will take just over 10 minutes for a stack of narcotics to take affect. This will give you time to look away and do other things.
Keep in mind, lower torpor (lower level dimetridons) may have less than 4000 torpor, in which case they will wake up sooner because they cant use a full stack of narcotics. Higher level dimetridons have closer to 8000 torpor, in which case you can feed them 2 stacks and they will take over 20 minutes to consume the narcotics.
Be ready to force feed it narcotics as soon as you knock it out, once unconscious it's torpor drops to half instantly and throughout the tame it randomly drops at extremely high rates I.E. 200 torpor instantly. Keep a close eye on it!
These creatures have quetzal kibble as their preferred kibble, which is extremely expensive, especially when you consider how useless these things are. However, it is beneficial to have a few of them if you are a fan of breeding, as their kibble is on the list of possible demanded kibbles for imprinting. Without using quetzal kibble, these creatures are a very long rough tame. I would recommend finding the lowest level male and female you possibly can, and bite the bullet and tame them with quetz kibble. If you find 2 of them with levels that are nice and low, it'll run you 10-15 quetz kibble. Then, if you want more females, I would suggest mating the 2 that you tamed a few times. Maybe collect 3-4 eggs and hatch them all at once. They are relatively short, easy breeds, and I would much rather spend a couple days breeding a few dimetrodons than spending all that quetz kibble.
Easy tame if you choose a high level during 2x. Have enough narcoberries watch torpor dropping to 1-2k in secs then feed all berries at once, around 1000 and you got nothing to do but wait till it's time to feed.
I don't know who's in charge of the dododex stats but I had a 162 and with my servers settings it said it would only take 37 tranq darts. I used over 100 and I killed it before it got close to being knocked out.
