Anti-gay activist resigns after trip with male prostitute
George Alan Rekers has resigned from his position on the board of the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) after going on a ten-day trip with a male prostitute.
Rekers claims he is hetereosexual and was never homosexual. NARTH’s website states:
“I am immediately resigning my membership in NARTH to allow myself the time necessary to fight the false media reports that have been made against me. With the assistance of a defamation attorney, I will fight these false reports because I have not engaged in any homosexual behavior whatsoever. I am not gay and never have been.”
George Rekers hired a 20-year-old Puerto Rican as his “travelling companion” from a website called Rentboy.com. The pair were photographed emerging from Miami International Airport last month with Professor Rekers pushing their luggage in a trolley.
